How To Replace Your Existing Wired Doorbell With Ring Video Doorbell

This video talks about replacing a ringer with a cable with a Ring Video Doorbell.   If you are not replacing an existing doorbell,   see our video on installation for battery operation.   Before beginning this process,   First, make the configuration process in the application in your house near the router.   Make sure you have everything that came

in the Ring box at hand.   If you are installing on a masonry surface,   You will also need a drill.   First, cut the electricity from the buzzer at the switch level.   Then, remove the current bell.   Now, take the mounting bracket that came with the Ring Doorbell and the small orange leveler and put the leveler inside the support.

Then, place the mounting bracket on the wall,   inserting the wires through the hole in the middle.   Make sure the bubble of the leveler remains in the middle and mark the four holes in the corners.   If you are installing the Ring Doorbell   on a masonry surface, such as brick or cement,   You will have to drill holes for

the stabilizers supplied.   If you are installing it in wood or cladding,   you do not need to use the stabilizers and you can skip the next part.   Use the drill bit provided to drill the stabilizer holes.   Once the holes are drilled, insert the stabilizers.   I should be able to simply push them into place,   but you can use

the hammer if necessary.   Next, use the star-shaped part of your Ring screwdriver and the screws supplied to fix the mounting bracket to the wall.   If the wall is not completely smooth,   make sure not to screw the bracket so tightly that it will bend,   since you can make your Ring Doorbell do not fit in the holder.

Once the support is fixed on the wall,   remove the leveler, detaching it.   Then, place the Ring Doorbell over the slots of the bracket,   and fix a cable to each of the screws in the front of the support,   winding the cables around the screws to ensure a good connection.   It does not matter which cable goes with which screw,

as long as both cables have a good connection with the screws and the cables are not touching each other.   If your doorbell is digital instead of mechanical,   There is an additional step at this point.   Not sure if your buzzer is digital or mechanical?   This is an easy way to differentiate them.   When the doorbell rings,   Is

the sound that makes the classic "din-din" sound?   In this case, it probably has a mechanical buzzer at home with a physical mechanism for sound.   In this case, do not use the diode since that will damage the doorbell.   If the sound of the bell is more like a melody ...   ... it has a digital ring   and will

have to fix the diode to wire the Ring Doorbell correctly.   To install the diode, place the black plastic box in the middle of the mounting bracket,   and then wind the cable at each end around the screws.   If you know which cable leads to the internal chime bell,   Place the gray indicator on the same part as that cable.

If you are not sure, do not worry,   since you connect the diode incorrectly   It will not do any harm.   Simply, the buzzer will not sound properly.   In this case, you can change the diode later and try again.   Again, to receive additional help with this step,   see our video of the installation of the diode   at ring.com/diode

Next, place the Ring Doorbell over the slots of the bracket,   and then push firmly in and then down until it is fixed in its place.   Do not be afraid to push too hard since placing the Ring Doorbell in the holder may require some effort.   Tighten the security screws on the bottom   using the smaller star-shaped end of

you are screwdriver Ring until the Ring Doorbell is fixed.   Then, connect the electricity to the doorbell again.   You will know that the Ring is connected correctly when the circular light on the front shines in white and press the button make the bell ring inside your house.   If the Ring Doorbell does not ring the internal bell,   or

the internal ring does not sound correct and it's a digital ring,   it is possible that the diode was not installed correctly.   Now you are ready to start using your Ring Video Doorbell.   If you need additional help,   Do not hesitate to contact our support team or visit ring.com/help.   With Ring, he is always at home.
