Amazon Echo Dot and Sonos - How to Voice Control your Sonos speakers!

sonos speakers amazon

hi it's video time today I'm going to talk a little bit about the echo dot and my impression so far within the last 10 minutes but particularly on connecting echo dot to Sonos and using voice commands with the sonos system so far works really well so here's my review I just got the echo dot incomes in a little box and I already had the other the Amazon echo

the regular Amazon echo and it works really well I like playing music through it but unfortunately didn't connect there's no line out on the regular Amazon echo so I couldn't connect it to my so no system so the echo dot just came this tiny box like this with the unit I'll show you in just a second a couple instructions and things to try she came with an audio cable and of course

a power cable so I'm going to show you right now the unit itself and what I did in a big rush because I was excited to try it hi there doc alright so here's the unit itself pretty small for those of you who have Amazon echo you'll notice that it looks pretty much the same except it's much shorter but otherwise the size is about the same on the back it's got a connection

for power and a connection for an audio out I used a different cable I didn't use the one that was provided with the echo dot so what I've done to connect it to Sonos is use a Sonos connect or a connect amp and I've got to connect amp downstairs but I've got to connect here in my bedroom and you'll see and all I've done aside from connecting the echo dot

to power is connected to the line in of the Sonos connect so sonís connect is the non amp version so it doesn't have its own internal amp so on the back of a sona's connect you've got you've got a line in you've got a line out Power Ethernet and coax an optical so I mean for basic set up you're just taking the line out into your speakers and this could be a computer

set of computer speakers if you want to get real simple and I've actually done just that now the echo dot out go went into the of course the line in on the back of the Sonos connect so this is connected to an I've connected this to a bose companion speaker system it's just a three-piece system it's got its the older version of the current system it's just got these small speakers here and

it's got a sub which I put under my bed so I'm not going to pull it out and show you that but you can really use any speakers with this what I like about using this rather than like a regular speaker system is this has the amp the bose system has an amp built in so it's super easy to set up so I've got two speakers got the sub on to bed

the Sonos connect goes under the bed as well everything's out of sight because you're not going to need them anymore and there's the echo dot sitting on the on the table so the next thing I did for the echo dot just does the quick setup in the in the Amazon echo app and then another thing I have to do in the Sonos app is to connect the Sonos connect to

to the line in I'll show you how that's done here on the iPad so you'll see on the on the sonís app on your iPad or iPhone you have on the whatever this panel is called here close to the bottom you have line in and this you let me see this if you do have a Sonos connect or Sonos connect app on your sonís network so you click line in and it's

going to give you options you can say well I found a Soto's connect or connect amp on your system that has line is so which one do you want to use and all I say is okay well I'm using one in the master bedroom I can do I can use that but I wanted to I can switch to the other one but I want to use the echo dot in my

master bedroom so I click that and that was it that's the end of the Sonos setup at this point all I had to do is just start speaking to the Amazon dot the echo dot now I'm going to turn the volume down and I'll just show you a quick demo of what of what you can do here Alexa play Coldplay now the sound is coming out of both speakers so

from the echo dot to the connect the cell is connect out to the both speakers now currently it's using the Coldplay a club a playlist on the Amazon music service because that's what the echos like to play right off the bat but you don't have to do that since you can use Spotify in a Spotify account I've also connected the Amazon echo to Spotify and I can do that so I can even choose

a playlist so I'll say Alexa play best songs ever playlist on Spotify from Spotify so now it's playing my personal playlist called best songs ever on on my Spotify account so everything's well connected your this is not really using the Sonos app at all it's just using the line in from the Kinect but works really well now I've also tried this from a distance tried it from the bathroom which is over there Alexa

seems to hear me just fine she heard me just now and of course you can use the Amazon echo for a lot of other things like Alexa what's the weather and now after the weather report you hear that the music will continue the music is also playing in the bathroom on my other sonos speaker being placed together plays really well and so far I'm really happy with it so that was it that's

the Amazon echo dot and the Sonos connecting to solos and now for the first time so most voice control I know sonís has some plans to do their own but this is quick and dirty and nothing else need it's nice to have another Amazon echo mouse as well hope you enjoy the video leave a comment if you want thanks for watching
